HASTINGS

The recently completed watermain linking the Bridge Pa area with the Hastings water supply is to undergo a thorough flushing.

The construction of the main was completed in September 2010 and the whole line was completely flushed at that time to ensure it was clear of any residual material. The operation is to be repeated, with the larger pipelines in Stock Road and Maraekakaho Road being treated with a jet cleaner and the smaller lines being reflushed.

It is important to note that the water being supplied to residents in the Bridge Pa area from the main poses no health risk.

The water supply to all properties connected to the line will be maintained during the work by the installation of a temporary water storage tank and pump. However, residents may experience a slight drop in pressure at times during the work as a result of the water coming from the temporary supply.

The cleaning will be done in four stages:

  • Stage one: Stock Road and Maraekakaho Road to Ngatarawa Raod
  • Stage two: The part of Ngatarawa Road before the residential connections begin
  • Stage three: Maraekakaho Road between Ngatarawa Road and Bridge Pa township
  • Stage four: Bridge Pa township-Maraekakaho Road and Raukawa Road, also Ngatarawa Road (including the residential connections)

The work is expected to begin on Monday November 21st and will take approximately four weeks to complete.
