Joint register implemented
MANAWATU District and Palmerston North City Councils are developing a joint Independent Qualified Persons register.
Regulatory Supervisor, Karel Boakes, said those registered would now be able to apply to either council on a combined application form and pay one fee of $415 for a new application or $174 for a renewal.
They would then be registered to operate under both councils – providing a savings in time and money.
Ms Boakes said a joint register also offered councils the opportunity to review how applications for IQP status were accepted, as the new process would provide a more robust and consistent approach for approval.
“IQP acceptance will be specific to an individual and there will be minimum requirements established for acceptance,” she said.
All existing registered IQPs are incorporated into the joint register, which is to become effective from December 1.
A new quick guide sheet, “Information for Persons Seeking Acceptance as an Independent Qualified Person”, has been developed and is available from council offices or on the websites, www.pncc.govt.nz or www.mdc.govt.nz
