<p>Mayor Alistair Sowman packs down his scrum at Lansdowne Park, lining up alongside Councillors Geoff Evans and Francis Maher, supported by Graeme Barsanti, Graeme Taylor and Terry Sloan, with John Leggett giving coaching tips from the side.</p>
<p>The councillors were at Lansdowne Park to hand over to the Marlborough Rugby Sub-union a scrum machine and hit shields used by the Russian World Cup rugby team during their training sessions in Marlborough.</p>
<p>Rugby World Cup funds met most of the cost of the gear, including XL-sized training gear and tackle suits, marker flags and cones, and this has now been shared out between the Sub-union and the Marlborough Boys’ and Girls’ Colleges and Queen Charlotte College.</p>
