ROTORUA

Having toured internationally, performing for world leaders and royalty, popular Māori soprano Timua Te Kowhai (formally Timua Brennan) is back to perform at Rotorua Museum on 1 December at 8pm.

Timua is well-known for her musical mastery, fusing waiata and classical opera into well-balanced, entertaining and accessible programmes. The evening at Rotorua Museum will feature pieces by Mozart, Gluck, Hahn, Puccini and waiata.

A Rotorua resident since 1994, Timua has played a big part in the local music scene and has performed and supported Opera in the Pa and New Zealand Aria where she has adjudicated the Māori section.

The evening will also feature emerging singing sensation, Declan Cudd, leader of the New Zealand Youth Choir and runner-up in the Institute of Registered Music Teachers (IRMT) Senior Scholarship competition. The Rotorua String Ensemble, directed by Jim McGregor, will also perform.

Seats are limited so those interested in attending are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance to avoid disappointment.

Tickets are available from the Museum at $15 for adults and $7 for school-aged children.
