SKYCITY Auckland is building on the success of its Federal Street bar and fabulous restaurant precinct making it ‘the’ place to be this Christmas. The inaugural lighting of Federal Street for Christmas will see 30,000 stunning Christmas lights spanning Federal Street in magical waves that stretch three kilometres in total. Chief Operating Officer Stuart Wing says SKYCITY is set to sparkle this Christmas.

“We are excited about creating a truly festive atmosphere at SKYCITY, with these new lights part of that plan. People from all around the city will be able to see the Sky Tower lit up in Christmas colours and Santa will be resident in his Grotto high in the sky!”

The festive lights will officially be turned on Wednesday 30 November at approximately 8.45 (darkness dependent) by New Zealand’s much loved media celebrity Paul Henry. Members from the successful SKYCITY Breakers, The Blues and the Vodafone Warriors will also be on taking part in the festivities. At the same time the Sky Tower will transform into its Christmas colours sporting a green stem, a red top and a sparkle over the top of the actual tower mimicking a star at the top of a Christmas tree.

What else is happening at SKYCITY for Christmas?
Children can visit Santa in the magical Sky Tower Grotto*. Santa’s Grotto is the highest in New Zealand situated on the Sky Deck 220 metres above the ground and will be open 10am-3pm during the first two weekends in December and then daily from 17-24 December. Children can post their letters to Santa in the highest post box in Auckland and have their photo taken with the big man himself!

* Offer available with Total Tower admission only. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
* One child aged six–14 years goes free with each full paying adult.
* Children five years and under are free.
* One photo and free print with Santa.

- Please note the Casino will be closed from 12.00am 25 December until 12.00am 26 December.

Merry Christmas from SKYCITY and Sky Tower!
