MARLBOROUGH

The Marlborough Art Society is staging an exhibition to help Christchurch artists displaced by the Canterbury earthquake.

Exhibitions convenor Jennifer Godden has spent the last seven months liaising with Christchurch artist Beverley Frost, in order to mount an exhibition of the Christchurch artists’ work here at the Society’s High Street gallery.

They are all artists who suffered heavy losses in the earthquake, seriously affecting their livelihoods. Some have lost their studios and materials, others have lost homes. Some have not been able to resume working as they were before the quake while others have had no chance to exhibit or sell their work.

Local Marlborough businesses have been very supportive to the Christchurch artists, offering their services free of charge.
