Merepeka Raukawa-Tait sworn into council

Merepeka Raukawa-Tait was sworn in as a councillor on the Rotorua District Council in an official ceremony this week.

Cr Raukawa-Tait made her declaration to serve on the council surrounded by extended whanau and friends.

She won the by-election to replace former councillor Geoff Kenny with 5049 votes.

In second was Brett Marvelly who got 3893 votes, third was Victor Storey with 2459, fourth was Cliff Lee with 1722, fifth was Dianne Western on 1314 and sixth was Bill Hedges with 1170 votes.
