SITE works on the Rongotea Water Supply Scheme are likely to start in April next year.

Project Manager, Mike Fletcher, said the detailed design for the scheme’s reticulation and reservoir was being finalised, after taking into account feedback from the local community.

“Tender documents are also being prepared for the drilling of the new bore for the water supply,” he said.

Mr Fletcher said the tender documents for both contracts were due to be issued before Christmas, with site works due to start after Easter 2012.

“Further contracts will be let for the pumping and dosing equipment and for a water treatment building later in 2012, once the bore has been completed,” he said.

A final application is to be lodged with the Ministry of Health to secure the subsidy allocation.
