Christmas trees light up Hastings mall

Five new Christmas trees are now adding to the colour and style of the festive season in Hastings CBD.
The trees have been placed in the fountains in the central mall. The lights on the trees in the East pond will be lit at all times while the trees in the West pond will switch on when the street lights come on each evening.
Councillor Sandra Hazlehurst says “The trees have a contemporary look and have been created by Ross Mackay Design at Whakatu. They will ensure Hastings CBD is a wonderful part of the regional Christmas experience.”
Mrs Hazlehurst says “Christmas is a time when parents, grandparents and children flock to the city to do buy presents for family and friends. It is important that the CBD looks its best at this time of the year and the Christmas trees will give the street a real festive feel.”
Funding for the Christmas trees has been provided by Hastings District Council, the Landmarks Trust and the Hastings City Business Association. The lights on the trees will be switched on from Wednesday December 7th.
