Low fares leader Jetstar today launched a new programme to help not-for-profit community groups and organisations fund projects that will enrich the lives of people in their local community.

Jetstar’s Flying Start Programme is now open for applications and will offer a $30,000 grant, made up of $15,000 worth of Jetstar travel and a cash grant of $15,000, to a local New Zealand community group or organisation each quarter.

Jetstar Australia and New Zealand CEO, David Hall, said the airline was excited to be working at a grass-roots level with the New Zealand community and looked forward to making an impact with some important community initiatives.

“Through our Flying Start Programme, we’re seeking to provide a helping hand to community groups and organisations around New Zealand.

The programme will allow us to contribute directly to the local communities that we fly to, beyond our low fares.”

Entries will be reviewed each quarter by a panel of judges, including in the inaugural panel rugby league legend Steve Price, Jetstar Australia and New Zealand CEO David Hall, Jetstar pilot Richard Falkner and Jetstar Passenger Services Manager Sharon Cocker.

“I’m passionate about helping improve the lives of everyday Kiwis, whether I’m lending a hand at a working bee or helping to fundraise for equipment, expertise or facilities,” says Steve Price.

“This programme is all about practical help as well as much-needed cash; that combination can make a powerful difference and I love that any not-for-profit community group can apply.”

Entry is open to New Zealand based not-for-profit community groups and organisations of any size. Charities, educational, health, arts or sporting organisations with a specific project or activity in mind are all encouraged to apply for a Jetstar Flying Start Programme grant.

Full application details are available at www.jetstar.com. If you are a community group or organisation that could do with a flying start with Jetstar, we invite you to apply.
