At the 13 December Council meeting, Taupō District Council (TDC) passed the resolution to re-appoint Rob who has been Council’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) since 2007.

Mayor Rick Cooper says, “Council is looking forward to continuing to work with Rob. He is a dynamic, energetic CEO who has gained the respect of his governance team. I am looking forward to working with him over the coming years; he is a significant asset to our community.”

Rob is known for his transparent leadership style and his passion for urban design and technology. His “The Way We Work” Organisational Development programme won the 2010 NZ Post Local Government Excellence Awards.

In addition, through Rob’s leadership, Council has made significant achievements and has maintained or gained a number of accreditations. For example, TDC was selected as a finalist in the ALGIM 2010 Innovation Awards for five customer service and information projects. In addition, TDC was the winner of the International Festivals and Events Association’s World Festival and Event City Award (population under 100,000 category).

Rob is looking toward the future and is excited about being offered the opportunity to continue to serve the Taupō District community. He says, “This is a place and a landscape that I am extremely passionate about. It is a pleasure and an honour to be able to continue the great work that we have been doing and will continue with for the next five years.”

He attributed the organisation’s success to his staff. “My organisation has had an outstanding commitment and dedication toward our communities and has maintained high standards of service.”

Under the Local Government Act Chief Executives positions are required to be re-advertised every five years.
