The Board of TTNL Ltd announced today that it has appointed experienced sports executive Andrew Crook to the role of General Manager of the ANZ Championship. Crook will take up the role on 7 February 2012 and be based at the ANZ Championship offices in Melbourne and Auckland.

Crook has an impressive background in sponsorship, marketing and strategic planning in sport management, including his current role working with England Netball as the General Manager of the FIAT Superleague in the United Kingdom. He previously worked in a number of positions with cricket including Commercial Manager with Northamptonshire County Cricket Club.

Australian born, Crook is a former professional cricketer for the South Australian Redbacks and also with Northamptonshire and Lancashire County cricket clubs.

Chair of the TTNL Board, Raewyn Lovett said Crook’s proven leadership record, stakeholder management and commercial expertise were the ideal skill set to build on the success of the competition.

“A former professional cricketer, Andrew is highly motivated, he has undoubted leadership capacity and will be keen to make his mark as he drives the growth of the ANZ Championship which brings together the best netball players in the world, attracting strong corporate, broadcast and spectator support”, Lovett said.

Crook said he was looking forward to the challenge of leading the ANZ Championship’s future development.

“The ANZ Championship has been an outstanding success since it was established in 2008, and we will look to capitalise on that by bringing new audiences to the game and growing the league as an attractive entertainment option” he said.

The 2012 ANZ Championship season commences on 31 March, with the official pre-season tournament to be held in Tauranga from 2-4 March.
