Here’s an easy New Year’s resolution that will help to get your personal finances under more control: arrange to pay your rates by direct debit.

A quarter of our ratepayers already pay their rates this way because it’s so easy and convenient. By making small regular payments weekly, fortnightly or monthly, the cost of your rates is spread out over the year and there’s no risk of penalties should you forget they’re due.

Even if you prefer to pay quarterly, it’s more efficient to do it by direct debit.

It’s easy and time-saving – and the Council can make all the arrangements with your bank.

Simply fill out a direct debit form, available from the Council, providing us with the property number and address and the bank account number from which the rates will be paid.

If your rates change, the Council will make the necessary adjustment to your direct debit and advise you of the change. Details of payments will always appear in your bank statement.
Our Customer Service staff can help you fill out the direct debit form.

Direct debit forms are available from the Marlborough District Council website.
