The total number of visitors to Rotorua Museum during December 2011 was 10,179 compared to 8,555 for December 2010, an increase of 19% or 1,624 visitors for the month. Admissions revenue increased by 58% for the same period.

Rotorua Museum director Greg McManus says the increase in visitors has been across the board.

"The number of local visitors doubled for the month, visitors from the rest of New Zealand increased by 15%, while international visitors, who made up more than half the total Museum visitors in December, increased by 7%."

Since the new Don Stafford Wing opened in September 2011, there has been an 18% increase in visitors to the Museum compared to the same four months in 2010. Admissions revenue has increased by 45% over the same period.
