Pukekura Park set to host Aces v Stags one-dayer

New Plymouth’s Pukekura Park has been confirmed as the venue for The Ford Trophy match between the Auckland Aces and Central Stags on Wednesday 1 February 2012.

The match did not have a venue allocated originally when the schedules were announced.

Earlier in the year New Zealand Cricket withdrew the Warrant of Fitness dispensation previously granted to Pukekura Park because funding for practice nets to be erected had lapsed meaning the venue was unable to host First-Class and one-day fixtures.

However, a decision by the New Plymouth District Council to fund the development of practice wickets meant Pukekura Park’s Warrant of Fitness has been reinstated.

New Zealand Cricket Operations Manager Tim Murdoch said: “We are delighted Pukekura Park has now confirmed as the match venue.

“We would like to thank the New Plymouth District Council, its Management and the TSB Community Trust for their support of cricket in Taranaki and for their considerable efforts to ensure that Pukekura Park can host First-Class and one-day cricket.”
