Hot dry conditions were a total contrast to the weather of a week before as the Toyota Racing Series arrived at Timaru's Levels race track this week.

Josh Hill and Hannes van Asseldonk took the race wins last weekend at Teretonga in between hail storms and mini tornadoes.

In test sessions Wednesday, Nick Cassidy and Lucas Auer were quickest, Victor Sendin and others having found the fine line between grip and slide difficult to judge as ambient air temperatures reached 29 degrees celsius and more.

Sendin's moment was the most serious of the day, causing his car significant damage.  He was forced off the track when another car braked hard in frotn of him near the pit entrance.

Chris Vlok, Raffaele Marciello and eseveral others explored the outer limits of traction with less drastic results.

Today, Hannes van Asseldonk has been fastest in the cooler morning session, with the cars due out on the track again at 2.45 for their second qualifying run.
