ROTORUA

Rotorua has plenty of events taking place over this week's Anniversary Weekend.
Heading the bill is the annual Raggamuffin international music festival, which kicks off tonight [Friday 28 January] with the festival’s first ever Friday concert at Rotorua International Stadium ahead of Saturday’s main event.

With another huge crowd expected at this year’s Raggamuffin, fans are urged to follow a few simple rules to ensure everyone has a fun and safe experience.

Small quantities of sealed drinks and non-commercial food such as sandwiches and fruit will be allowed into the stadium during Saturday's event, however, glass, cans, alcohol, chilly bins, deck chairs, professional camers, weapons, drugs, gang patches or colours are not permitted. There will be bag searches before entering the venue, and a strong police presence.

No food or drink is allowed in at the Friday Night Pre-Party.

The Raggamuffin Village area will open at 10am on Saturday [28 January] and can be accessed only from the main gate and Gate 3 at Ray Boord Park. Gates into the stadium and bars open at 11am, with the first band starting at 12 noon. The official finish is scheduled for 10.45pm.
