The Kaipara District Council’s Biodiversity Fund for 2012 is now open to receive applications.

The Fund is open to both individuals and communities who have a project that will enhance or protect
the environment.

The success of this Fund has meant the Council has allocated $15,000 for 2012. In the past the Fund
has assisted a wide variety of projects ranging from fencing bush blocks and stream banks to pest and
weed control.

Over the last few years there have been some excellent projects supported by this Fund that are
making a difference for the biodiversity of our district.

Have you got an environmental project you need assistance with? Maybe fencing off that piece of
native bush at the back of the property, restoring a wetland area or organising a community planting
day to enhance a stream bank or something similar. Now is the time to get going.

For more information, Council has guidelines and application forms available from its offices in
Dargaville and Kaiwaka, and on its website www.kaipara.govt.nz. Applications close on Monday
16 March 2012 with decisions being made by Council in April
