The community is being encouraged to gather together to celebrate Children’s Day on Sunday 4 March.

The vision behind Children’s Day was to see children celebrated, nurtured and treasured by all and since 2000, the first Sunday in March has seen events to celebrate the day take place country wide.

Locally, this year’s festivities take place at Queenstown Primary School in Robins Road between 10am and 2pm. There’ll be stalls and fun activities including a petting zoo, fire engine, bouncy castle, sausage sizzle, games, races and a police car.

Queenstown arts and events facilitator Jan Maxwell said the theme for Children’s Day this year was ‘Treasure Our Children.’

“Children’s day gives everyone in our community the chance to gather together and celebrate our future generations.”

“Bring a picnic and make sure you join us for a fun day.”
