Shoes from around the world feature in a new exhibition at the North Otago Museum which celebrates Race Relations Day (21 March).

The exhibition opens today and runs until June 8th.

The shoes on display include Dutch clogs, Swiss Army boots, sandals and gumboots. Some of the items featured in the Race Relations Day display have been loaned to the museum by North Otago locals and others are part of museum’s own collection.

Museum collections and exhibitions curator Chloe Searle said Race Relations Day is an important event to mark.

“The day is an opportunity for people to celebrate their culture while reflecting on the value of positive race relations.”

She thanked the Waitaki Multicultural Council for the effort they put into assisting with the museum’s display, as well as organising a number of other events.
