She's been dishing it up for over 20 years to New Zealand households with the Food in a Minute series, a great range of cookbooks, and fantastic food editorials. Now Allyson Gofton is back in the Bay to inspire cooks and readers all over again.

Dishing it up with Allyson Gofton, a New Zealand Book Month event is being held on Thursday 22 March at the Havelock North Library.

Carla Crosbie, promotions coordinator for Hastings District Libraries says, "New Zealand Book Month is about celebrating and recognising that Books Change Lives. This fun, foodie event celebrates the way books change lives via the kitchen!"

"We wanted to bring books and the art of cooking together as we know that there are a lot of people in Hastings district with a real interest and love of these two things."

A complimentary glass of wine will be provided on arrival courtesy of fellow NZ Book Activists and premier winery, Matariki Wines.

Tickets for this event are $5.00 and available now at the Havelock North, Hastings and Flaxmere Libraries.

New Zealand Book Month is a nationwide campaign to help establish and build a nation of dedicated readers and to bring readers and writers together.

In support of New Zealand Book Month, Booksellers NZ will be sending every household a $5 book voucher to help encourage communities to get reading.

New Zealand Book Month background

New Zealand Book Month is a non-profit initiative promoting books and reading - and as a result, literacy - in New Zealand.

One month each year we celebrate books and encourage all Kiwis to get involved. The clear goal of New Zealand Book Month is to form a community of readers from Cape Reinga to the Bluff. We want to see Kiwis:

* Passionate about books, determined to share them with each other and spreading the word * Telling and retelling stories and recommending new books to read * Reading and talking about books - from friend to neighbour, school bus to sporting field, workplace to playground.

NZ Book Month works alongside a wide range of organisations fundamental to books and reading in New Zealand. Publishers, authors, booksellers, libraries, schools and reading activists all provide the necessary support to make NZ Book Month a success.
