Christchurch City Council is encouraging people of all abilities to try out the new Christchurch Airport Marathon course on Sunday 3 June 2012.

Council Recreation and Sports Unit Manager John Filsell says this year is all about getting new people to give it a go.

"This is an event for everyone; whether you are a hard-core runner, building up to do a full marathon course, enjoy walking with friends or children wanting to get involved in a fun event."

"The new course around the Christchurch Airport is scenic, very flat and fast. But if a full marathon isn't for you, then there are lots of other options. Whether you are taking on the full marathon, half marathon run/walk, 10 kilometre run/walk or Kids' Mara'Fun there is something for everyone."

"Training for these events is a great way to get fit with friends and family. With the colder months fast approaching, being involved in this event will be a motivation to get outside and be active," he says.

Sign up at any Council recreation and sports centre by Friday 4 May. After this date you can sign up online and a late entry fee will apply.
