CANTERBURY

Free Easter eggs are on offer again on Quail Island with Black Cat Cruises this weekend.

After not having the popular hunt for Easter Eggs last year due to the quakes the tourism operator is again giving away thousands of Easter eggs as part of an Easter egg hunt on the Lyttelton Harbour Island.

“This year we intend to make things a little more challenging,” Black Cat Cruises Sales and Marketing Manager Alison Fleming said.

“You will have to find three different coloured tokens in order to receive the maximum quota of Easter Eggs. It adds an extra element and it’s always good fun and we sell out every year so we do suggest booking early to avoid the disappointment of missing out.”

Quail Island is only a 15 minute ride by ferry from Lyttelton Harbour.  On board the ferry passengers will be given a map of the Island and an outline of the hunt for Easter eggs.

“It takes around two hours to walk the whole island and is great time out with family and friends searching the island for the coloured tokens which you will then exchange for the Easter Eggs,” she said.

“While hunting for the eggs you will also discover ship wrecks, volcanic cliffs and even a leprosy grave.”

The Easter Egg hunt is operating on Friday 6th, Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th of Easter, departing at 10.30am, 11.30am and 12.30pm and Fleming adds it’s also important to take warm clothes and sensible walking shoes.

“We have a whole office over flowing with chocolate Easter Eggs and they’ll all go this weekend.”
