HASTINGS

The community will get to give their views on Hastings District Council’s new Long Term Plan (LTP) when the Voice Box travels around the district.

The Voice Box is a retrofitted shipping container where the main features of the 2012/22 LTP and the new joint Waste Management and Minimisation plan will be on display.

The information gathered through this consultation process will complement and build upon the planning work which has already been undertaken by council, during the preparation of the LTP and the joint waste plan. Visitors to the Voice Box will be able to learn more about councils ideas for the future and provide feedback on what they see as the main issues and priorities.

The LTP sets out a strategy for the delivery of services to the Hastings community for the next ten years and what it will cost. The display will include information on the redevelopment of Civic Square, enhancement of various parks, a proposed hockey turf development, future transport priorities, an
upgrade of the public swimming pools, and a suggested long term, sustainable solution to coastal hazards.

Information will also be available on the proposed Te Mata Park visitor and education centre and a proposal for changes to the district rating system.

You will be able to talk with council officers at the Voice Box in the following locations:

Hastings CBD: Friday April 13th 10am – 3.30pm
Haumoana: Saturday April 14th 10am – 2pm
Farmers Market, HB showgrounds: Sunday April 15th 8am – 11am

Both the LTP and the joint Waste Management and Minimisation plan can be viewed on the council’s online channel www.myvoicemychoice.co.nz where you can also leave your comments.
