DJ Downtown Brown, gaming tables and the chance to glam up as your favourite Bond character hit the Memorial Hall next Saturday (April 14) as a Queenstown Young Professionals fundraiser for the Hall upgrade.

Queenstown Young Professionals spokesperson Olivia Crisp says they want people to dress up as their favourite Bond character.

“Like the Hall, he's been around since the 50s - he's just been updated a bit more through the decades!  Now it’s the Memorial Hall’s turn and our fundraiser is going towards retiling the balcony and sunshades, as that’s an update we’ll all appreciate.”

Building on the "through the ages" theme, nibbles provided by Queenstown Resort College, cocktails and music will also all follow a decade-by-decade theme from the ‘50s to today. “This is your chance to really taste, hear and see Queenstown history - we will even have titbits of entertainment from each decade.”

Ms Crisp said they had designed the evening's entertainment for the community’s younger people "because we are the future users of the hall and we will benefit directly from the upgrade. We want to celebrate the Hall being an integral part of Queenstown from the 50s and in the future.

“This event is not just for QYP members,” she added. "We want all young people in the community to come and enjoy the night."

The $45 ticket includes a drink on arrival and nibbles and music throughout, with a cash bar and "funny money" to purchase to play at the casino tables.

Auction items, available both through a real money silent auction and a funny money auction with Harcourts auctioneers, include everything from luxury accommodation, designer fashion, wine, massages and art to restaurant, gym, activities, marketing and scenic flight vouchers.

Tickets are available from Ms Crisp at 450 0736 or by e-mailing the QYP website
