The New Zealand Under 19s have suffered a nine wicket defeat in the quadrangular series following their meeting with England at Endeavour Park, Townsville.

After being put into bat, New Zealand only managed to post 78 before being dismissed in the 33rd over with England reaching 80 for one in 18.1.

Openers Michael Davidson (14) and Joe Carter (16) were New Zealand’s best while Will Young (13) and Cam Fletcher (11) were the only other batsmen to reach double figures.

All of the England bowlers were good but it was Aneesh Kapil who impressed the most with his five overs returning four wickets while conceding for just six runs.

England opener Daniel Bell-Drummond starred in the run chase, scoring an unbeaten 42 including five boundaries and two sixes.

Australia beat India by four wickets in the other round two match.  New Zealand take on Australia tomorrow in the last match of the round-robin.
