Judith Hyslop of the New Zealand Stroke Foundation receives a cheque for $5,500 from Kingston Flyer managing director David Bryce following a hugely successful fundraising weekend.

A $5 donation from each train ticket sold to ride New Zealand’s famous vintage steam train went to the foundation, along with money raised through a sausage sizzle, bouncy castle, raffles and other generous donations.

Mr Bryce said visitors had come from all around New Zealand and overseas, and he was “delighted” to have been able to raise such a substantial amount of money.

The funds raised will go towards the continuance of free field officer services in Southland and Otago.
