Queenstown Film Society Launches New Season
Queenstown Film Society launches its 2012 season on Tuesday 1 May 2012, kicking off on a film noir theme with The Postman Always Rings Twice.
Now in its 11th year QFS has an established reputation for screening a truly eclectic mix of classic oldies, recent world cinema and the best of New Zealand film, all adding up to a great way to spend those winter Tuesday evenings.
This year’s line-up is no exception featuring something for everyone, including music-scene revelry in 24 Hour Party People, sci-fi masterpiece Solaris and fast-paced early musical Footlight Parade, not to mention The Asphalt Jungle, the film that made Marilyn Monroe a star.
Following on from last year’s success, QFS is also continuing the local short films night, giving budding film-makers the chance to see their work on the big screen, in what promises to be a truly original viewing experience.
Screenings take place at Dorothy Browns Cinema in Arrowtown, every Tuesday night from 1 May to 13 November except during the school holidays. Membership costs $120 a year - which works out at less than $5 per film. Half year membership is available at $70 and 3 film sampler tickets are $30.
