HASTINGS

Hastings District Council today announced that it has reappointed Ross McLeod as its Chief Executive for a further 2 years, commencing February 2013.

Mayor Lawrence Yule said “The Council was very pleased with Ross’s performance, and the improvements in the performance of the Council organisation over the last four years.  After conducting an employment review, the Council was happy to offer Mr McLeod a further term of employment.”

“We are delighted to have secured Ross’s services in Hastings for a further term,” said Mayor Yule.

The Council is in the process of finalising performance objectives for the Chief Executive for the next two and a half years. “We want continued improvement in organisation performance, and we also want a focus on improving regional coherence, decision-making and efficiency,” said Mayor Yule.  “We are confident Ross can help Council contribute to this.”

Under the Local Government Act 2002, the Council appoints the Chief Executive for a maximum five year term.  Not less than six months before the end of that term, the Council must complete a review of the Chief Executive’s employment and decide whether to advertise the position or reappoint the Chief Executive for a further term of two years (maximum). If a reappointment is made, the position must, by law be readvertised at the end of that term.

Mr McLeod commenced work at Hastings District Council in February 2008.
