SEDDON

Seddon School is leading the way in Marlborough as one of the first participants to register for the national Civil Defence exercise being held in September. CPM Marlborough Ltd is the first business to sign on to take part.

Families and individuals, businesses and schools across Marlborough are being asked to register for the national earthquake drill at 9.26 am on 26 September, 2012.

The earthquake risk in Marlborough is widely known and this is an opportunity for us all to test our own emergency preparedness arrangements.

Anyone wanting to participate can register by going to www.getthru.govt.nz and clicking on the NZ ShakeOut icon. A running tally is being kept of those registered – and it’s time for Marlborough to join in.

A publicity campaign is to be run to encourage the wider community to take part in this important national drill.
Drop, Cover and Hold – the official advice on how to respond to an earthquake.
