The Queenstown Events Centre has announced the line-up for the first ever Shotover Jet Remarkable Christmas Spectacular to be held on Saturday December 15.

“We are delighted to have secured special guests NZ Idol star Ben Lummis and MC for the evening TVNZ Lotto presenter Russell Harrison,” Queenstown Events Centre events manager Karen Gemmell said. “Both performers are thrilled to be coming to Queenstown and are looking forward to festivities on and off the stage.”

Ensuring that the concert was still very much a local event will be the stellar cast of some of Queenstown’s top performers including Anita Haira, overall winner of this year’s Starry Eyed 10 year anniversary, as well as Simon Green, Andrea Cruickshank, Tom Maxwell, Nick Hughes, Katy Anderson and Lee van der Schuit. Emma Lange will also co-host the event with Russell Harrison.

A Remarkable Christmas would also be an opportunity to showcase younger talent with the appearance of teenagers Holly Hoogvliet and Jessica Law.

Local Queenstown band “Afterglow” would be joined by the prolific Mark Wilson to provide the musical support for the exciting variety of music and singers.

“I find the whole idea of providing a collaborative show of local talent, by and for the community very exciting. I know this is just the beginning!” said musical director Margaret O’Hanlon.

“There is something for everyone with a selection of Christmas carols, celebrated kiwi classics, songs from the hit movie High School Musical and some great rock and pop music to shake your Christmas booty” said creative director Douglas Kamo.

It was also rumoured that a certain celebrity from the North Pole is finding time amongst his busy schedule to rehearse a song or two for a guest appearance.

The Events Centre had made a promise to the community that this exciting new community event would be as affordable as possible.

“In line with our promise to make this concert an affordable entertainment experience for families across Central Otago, TicketDirect Queenstown and the Events Centre will waive all booking fees applicable to tickets purchased from selected locations,” Ms Gemmell said.

Tickets for A Remarkable Christmas went on sale today (Monday) and were priced at $10 for adults, $5 for children. Tickets could be purchased from the Events Centre, Southern Lakes Real Estate Cromwell and all TicketDirect outlets. Children under 5 could attend free of charge.

In conjunction with A Remarkable Christmas Spectacular, sponsors Shotover Jet would be holding their annual ‘locals’ day’ on Saturday, November 17. The locals’ day aimed to raise funds for the elected concert charity Diabetes Wakatipu.

This year Shotover Jet would be offering an additional discount to those who have tickets to the community Christmas concert Shotover Jet Remarkable Christmas. A ride on the ‘world’s most exciting jet boat ride’ would cost an incredible $5 with your concert ticket or $15 without.

The build up to the concert will commence on December 1, with the opening of Santa’s Christmas Tree Grotto at the Events Centre and Southern Lakes Real Estate Wishing Tree displays in Queenstown, Wanaka and Cromwell.
