Social housing for vulnerable West Auckland families

Waitakere MP Paula Bennett welcomes the addition of six new social housing units in West Auckland increasing safe secure social housing by 22 beds.

“Social housing is a crucial community service and part of the Government’s commitment to ensuring people have access to the right supports close to their community,” Mrs Bennett says.

Last week the National-led Government announced $5.2 million funding for 28 new housing units nationwide through the Social Housing Fund.

Waitakere ‘s Vision West received $1.2 million through the fund to help house more West Auckland families in need.

“Assisted by this funding, VisionWest will continue to help low income and vulnerable families struggling with financial hardship, addiction and criminal convictions,” says Mrs Bennett. 

“Giving someone a roof over their head might seem basic but it can help families take that crucial first step away from a challenging situation and into a new future.”
