The talented web administrator who looks after our Council website has been recognised for her skills with a national award.

Mandy Evans was selected from a nationwide field of nominees from all local government websites for the Professional Development Award given to the individual who displays “excellent potential”.

The awards are run by the Association of Local Government New Zealand Information Management, the national body that looks after the interests of the information, communication and technology sector within all the urban and rural councils across the country.

As Web Administrator, Mandy co-ordinates the Council website www.marlborough.govt.nz with support throughout Council, particularly from web editors and technical development staff, including Grant Carroll, developer of Floodwatch. Floodwatch was another success for Council, coming second at the awards in the Best New Feature Website Under 50,000 Population.

The ALGIM Web Awards recognise and celebrate best practice in websites amongst New Zealand local authorities. Overall, the Marlborough District Council was ranked fourth of 78 councils nationwide, a move up from fourteenth place last year. The rankings are based on features and services offered and compliance with NZ Government website and accessibility standards.

Marlborough District Council’s website is continually evolving, with a refresh planned in the next few months and online payments and customer-friendly online forms coming soon.
