The Council also voted unanimously to write to the Bishop and the Anglican Diocese to advise them of the resolution with a copy given to Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Minister Gerry Brownlee and the Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority.

A resolution that the Mayor seek a meeting between the Council and the Anglican Bishop and Cathedral Project to seek an open and thorough discussion across the community about the future design of the cathedral was carried by 11 votes to three.
