City Showcase - Napier Event Offers Big Reward
Solo artists and bands that enter this year's City Showcase New Zealand being held in Napier in July, have just been handed a big incentive to produce the best performance of their lives.
Organisers are expecting over 30 entries into the prestigious event that is being held in conjunction with the 'Napier For the Ride of Your Life' cycling festival in July. However that number is likely to rise with the announcement that the winners will now be given the opportunity to perform live to thousands of concert goers at next year's Rhythm and Vines Festival.
"This is an amazing opportunity for musical artists to really kick start their careers," comments Napier Mayor Barbara Arnott. "Napier is really committed to the success of this festival and this latest news just adds to excitement that is already building."
One of the City Showcase judges and Rhythm and Vines director Hamish Pinkham, believes that this opportunity for musicians will really define the local music scene. "It's great to see the music scene flourish on the East Coast. City Showcase will help launch Hawke's Bay as an important stop on the road to success in what is a very competitive creative industry."
Pinkham is joined on the prestigious judging panel by NZ music industry icons Mike Chunn and Peter Urlich. The artist call to enter closes this Monday 21 May.
