Rotorua Wearable Creationz early entries already exceed 2011

The 2012 Rotorua Wearable Creationz is already shaping up to be one of the biggest yet and entries haven't even closed for the tenth anniversary event. Organisers have already received 12 entries for this year's event - eight more than at the same time last year.

Wearable Creationz chairperson, Barbara Cook, says the organising committee is delighted with the high level of early interest from entrants.

"To have 12 entries at this early stage is incredibly exciting and satisfying for everyone involved," says Mrs Cook.

"We are very passionate about this event and what it does for our local community, and it's fantastic to see that passion and interest spreading in Rotorua and beyond."

Entries for the 2012 Wearable Creationz event close on Monday 18 June, with the design board and music due on 23 July.

Tickets for this year's event are also now on sale through Ticketmaster. This year's Wearable Creationz event includes a Matinee show on Thursday 16 August, Gala Night on Friday 17 August and the final Awards Night on 18 August.

Mrs Cook says the event stage and layout at the Energy Events Centre has been completely reconfigured this year to further intensify the audience experience.

"Wearable Creationz is a full participation event - entrants make, model and bring their creations to life on the stage and the audience becomes fully involved in what is happening with their performance.

"The new configuration means there is no 'back' to the stage and the audience will literally be right amongst it. We believe it will be an amazing experience for entrants and members of the audience alike."

Mrs Cook says the new configuration will also allow for the Energy Events Centre's second grandstand to be used, increasing capacity to 3100 at every performance.

She says there has already been good initial interest in tickets and she urges those wishing to book a whole table to "get in quick".

"Obviously we are excited about Wearable Creationz every year, but our 10th anniversary event is certainly shaping up to be one of the biggest and best yet."
