Himatangi Scheme Open Day

A PUBLIC open day on the Himatangi Beach Community Sewerage Scheme is to be held in the village early next month.

Manawatu District Councillors and staff will be on hand at the Community Centre from noon to 4pm on Saturday, June 2, to provide further information and answer questions about the scheme.

A Project Information booklet available at the open day will contain scheme description, joining procedures, costs and payment options, implementation timetable, photographs and details of council and property owners’ obligations and responsibilities.

Project Manager Mike Fletcher said confirmation of the $3.2 million subsidy from the Ministry of Health was still awaited before council could award the contract to the Hawkins Infrastructure lead consortium to design and construct the scheme. This was now expected in early June.

The scheme’s physical works are expected to start in August and be completed by the end of November next year.
