Tasman residents will have the chance to rate the Tasman District Council during its annual phone survey later this month.

“The annual residents’ survey helps us to track Council’s performance and to hear the views of our community on what we do well and where we can improve for our future planning,” says Mayor Richard Kempthorne.

“Every year we look closely at how well we are delivering, and an anonymous telephone survey is a cost-effective way to do this.”

“Your rates are investment in the diverse range of infrastructure and services that Council delivers to support the Tasman lifestyle. These include roads, drinking water, storm water and wastewater, libraries, recreation centres, boat ramps, playgrounds and many other services, as well as major capital projects.”

“The results of the survey will be made public and form part of the Council’s formal reporting and are a critical ingredient in planning for further improvements to our delivery of services. For this reason I ask all residents who are contacted to please take the time to be involved and express their view,” says Mayor Kempthorne.

The National Research Bureau (NRB) is managing the survey. Using a randomised selection method, a number of residents throughout the District will be telephoned, and asked for their opinions. While the results are public, the details of who took part will remain confidential.

Interviewing for the survey commences on Friday 25 May, and is expected to be completed on Wednesday 6 June.

Results of the 2012 Resident Survey will be published online at tasman.govt.nz.
