Inspired by the latest looks on French runway, AGATHA Paris embarked on a journey through India to bring Kiwi women colour, passion, discovery and adventure to help finish off their winter/hiver 2012 look.

First up, AGATHA Paris gives you the trends from Paris for the new 2012 season:

There was a time when a single color or a certain hemline ruled an entire season. Well, not any more. This year is a glorious season with a kaleidoscope of colours and prints. The catwalks reflect the global village that the world is today.

Technology makes available materials never heard of before; affording designers a wide scope for creativity, also allowing them to produces complicated prints that defy imagination.

Key points:

  • Many designers have gone back to traditional crafts, using quaint materials like broderie anglaise, lace, crochet, and hand sewn embellishments.
  • Indian actresses appear in Western reality shows. The colours and glamour of Bollywood filter into fashion. There were also Indian inspired slippers and jewellery on the catwalks; and jewel colours of the Raj.
  • Global village/ethnic themes continue to be a strong force, taking in Africa, Europe and Asia and Asia Minor and being portrayed with kaftans, sarongs or anything with ethnic prints.
  • Prints: Floral, kitsch (cars, fruits, vegetables), ethnic, animal and elements of the sea.

Now, AGATHA Paris launches two new season collections to bring these French runway trends to life for Kiwi women – take an Indian road trip to a land of contrasts and vivid colours, unveiling a kaleidoscope of colour, steeped in spirituality, ancient religion and modern cinematography:

Hindu Spirit

To pursue this adventure in the heart of India, AGATHA Paris offer you a break to take time to meditate and learn some more about the Hindu Wisdom.

Coloured enamel, rhinestones, cotton and wood shaping the OM symbol, a sacred syllable representing the absolute Hindu thought, earrings, pendants and keying as well as rosary style necklaces to feed through your fingers.

Bollywood

Hollywood musical meets MTV meets folk theatre, Indian cinema is huge!

AGATHA Paris has created a collection of feminine, brightly coloured ceremonial jewellery. We have been inspired by the sumptuous jewels worn by the actresses: Rhinestones necklaces, cascades of bangles – bling is in!

These two collections showcase the colourful exuberance of the Indian culture.

“The jewellery pieces are bright in colour yet delicate, making them easy to wear and perfect for layering. The wearer can mix and match to create her own identity, very much this season’s spirit” says AGATHA Paris New Zealand’s Mitchell Grant.
