Marlborough Girls’ College head girl Olivia Sheat has added another award to her impressive list of successes, being selected as one of this year’s two winners of Marlborough’s QEII Music Award.
Olivia was presented with her award at the Council Chambers last week by Mayor Alistair Sowman who also thanked Olivia for the contribution she’d made to the community by singing at public events, local productions and fundraising concerts.
The Marlborough District Council and the Kaikoura District Council administer the Award which assists the region’s top young musicians to continue their musical training.
Olivia is planning to continue her music studies at Victoria University next year, aiming to become an opera singer.
The other QEII Music Award recipient for 2012 is pianist and violinist Vicky Mack who is currently studying at the University of Waikato. She will be presented with her award later this year.
