NZ On Air is pleased to release its Statement of Intent for the next three years.

Plans for the years ahead include new approaches to several areas of funding while ensuring New Zealanders continue to get the screen and sound content they love.

NZ On Air will be refreshing its digital strategy, looking at how documentaries are funded, working to build on Pacific broadcasting and launching a new platform for new music called theaudience.

The agency will also be fine tuning its music funding scheme Making Tracks which is coming to the end of its first year of operation.

“NZ On Air is constantly looking at how we do things” says Chief Executive Jane Wrightson.  “We have a vital role in funding content that might not otherwise get made.”

The year ahead will see $81m go into supporting television content, nearly $32m invested in public radio, $1.5m earmarked for regional television, $1.6m for online projects, more than $6m for special interest radio content and more than $5m for kiwi music for a huge range of listener appetites.

NZ On Air has retained its current funding level and plans to continue to provide content for every New Zealander while ensuring excellent value for money with an administration expenditure of just 2.5% of overall funding.
