Two members of the Electricity Authority have been reappointed, Energy and Resources Minister Phil Heatley announced today.

David Bull and Roger Sowry have both been reappointed for five years, effective 1 June 2012.

“Both have served on the Electricity Authority since its establishment in November 2010,” said Mr Heatley.

“The reappointments provide the Authority with continuity of expertise and experience,” he said.

Members of the Electricity Authority are appointed by the Governor-General on the recommendation of the Minister of Energy and Resources.

Other members of the Authority are Dr Brent Layton (Chair), Susan Paterson and Elena Trout.

The Electricity Authority was established on 1 November 2010. It is an independent Crown entity under the Crown Entities Act 2004, and is responsible for governance and regulation of the electricity sector.

Its primary responsibility is the development and enforcement of the electricity market rules.
