Legal executive training is available once more in Auckland with Bay of Plenty Polytechnic offering the New Zealand Law Society Legal Executive Diploma in the central city. This development has the support of both the New Zealand Law Society and the Auckland Law Society associations.

The Polytechnic jumped at the opportunity to get involved when onsite legal executive training was withdrawn by another tertiary provider for the beginning of the 2012 academic year. Talks began immediately with both law societies to bring this training option back in Auckland.

“We’ve been successfully running our programme in Tauranga for the last 20 years and we are very good at it,” says Lynette Steele, Group Leader for Applied Management and Legal Studies. “Since 30 April, we’ve started providing four face-to-face papers and we will deliver all six papers next year.”

“This is an ideal programme for people already working in law firms who want to get a qualification,” says David Lyon, Head of School of Business. “With strong backing and support from both law societies, it was an easy decision to bring our legal executive programme to Auckland to meet the demand and support the legal community.”

Paper options offered in Auckland are Introduction to the Legal System, Introduction to Law Office Practice, Property Law and Practice and Business Law and Practice. The course is taught at the National Tertiary Education Consortium (NTEC) campus in central Auckland.
