Jetstar celebrates three years of flying Kiwis around NZ - over 344,000 passengers flown from Queenstown

Jetstar is saying thank you to New Zealand with a special ‘take a friend for FREE’ sale to mark its third anniversary of flying domestic services.

Jetstar Group Chief Commercial Officer David Koczkar said the special sale fares were in recognition of the support the airline received from its Kiwi customers.

“We are extremely grateful for the support we’ve received from our New Zealand customers over the past three years and the hard work of the more than 220 Kiwis who work for Jetstar,” Mr Koczkar said.

“Jetstar offers Kiwis choice on seven major routes across New Zealand, our low fares giving some people the chance to fly for the first time.

“Jetstar wants to encourage more people to fly than ever before for less and in the past three years, we have sold more than 660,000 seats for $50 or less.”

In three years Jetstar has grown its domestic fleet to operate 116 flights each week, serving Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Queenstown and Dunedin.

In Queenstown, Jetstar has flown around 345,000 passengers* on domestic routes - that’s enough seats to fill Earnslaw Park 18 times.  Auckland is the number one domestic destination for Queenstown travellers with nearly 190,000 seats sold to the ‘City of Sails’ since 2009.

To celebrate its third birthday Jetstar has released a special ‘take a friend for FREE’ offer on selected domestic flights.

To access the sale, click on the ‘take a friend for FREE’ banner at jetstar.com.  For every passenger who books a specially marked sale Starter fare they will receive another Starter fare for free. Selected routes and travel dates in 2012 and 2013 apply. A minimum of 2 and a maximum of 8 passengers per booking applies.

Prices are based on payment by direct deposit / POLi, or voucher for bookings through jetstar.com. For all other bookings, a Booking and Service Fee of $5 per passenger, per domestic fare applies. Fares are one way, web only and non-refundable. Limited changes are permitted, charges apply. Availability is limited (not available all flights or days). Limited availability over public holiday weekends. All travel is subject to the Jetstar Conditions of Carriage.

Checked baggage not included, however passengers can choose from 15kg to 40kg checked baggage for an additional $9.50-$35 per passenger per domestic fare. Sale ends 23.59 NZ time on Thursday 7 June unless sold out prior. Conditions apply.
