HAWKE'S BAY

One lucky guest at this year’s Hot Red Hawke’s Bay being held in Wellington and Auckland will get the chance to extend the experience with their very own party, complete with goodies from the Bay and two Hawke’s Bay winemakers to boot.

In a departure from a prize that normally brings the winner to Hawke’s Bay for a weekend of wine indulgence, organisers have arranged for the company of two party loving winemakers, two dozen Hot Red Hawke’s Bay wine glasses and other treats, to create a party in the winner’s own home, wherever that may be.

Hot Red Hawke’s Bay is a wine expo road show event that has been held for the past eight years, taking premium Hawke’s Bay wines to larger metropolitan centres in New Zealand and Australia.  It will be held in Wellington on 12 June at the Chaffers Dock Function Centre, and in Auckland on 31 July at the Viaduct Events Centre.

“We wanted to give the event a bit of a twist so we came up with this idea,” says Lyn Bevin, Hawke’s Bay Winegrowers executive officer.  “We have volunteered the company of two local winemakers who we know will add life to any party, but on a serious note, who will be great ambassadors for our wine region.”

Party volunteers, wearing ‘a visitor from Hawke’s Bay’ teeshirt, are Tim Turvey from Clearview Estate Winery and Miles Dineen from Crossroads Winery.

“I’m always up for a party but it’s also a good opportunity to educate wine drinkers about the benefits of high quality Hawke’s Bay wines,” says Mr Turvey.

For Mr Dineen, it’s an opportunity to help fly the Hawke’s Bay flag. “We can talk and drink Hawke’s Bay.”

The event has a trade and media only section that is held earlier in the day, while discerning wine consumers can attend from 6pm to 9pm.
