Snow continues to affect small parts of the Orion network
Orion crews have made further progress to restore power to areas of Christchurch and central Canterbury affected by snow.
Approximately 1,700 customers are still without power, including small pockets in the Harewood, Brooklands, Weedons, Kimberley, Hororata, Annat, Duvauchelle and Castle Hill areas, down from 3,000 at 7.00pm yesterday.
"Our repair crews will work from first light to get the power back on to those areas," says Orion Chief Executive Rob Jamieson.
"The weather is clearer and we expect to make good progress today."
"Almost all of the power cuts have been caused by trees and branches weighed down by snow, falling on power lines. These cuts highlight how important it is to keep trees trimmed and well away from overhead lines."
Please stay clear of fallen power lines and treat them as live at all times. To report lines down call Orion on 03 363 9898.
