The success of Treble Cone’s School Holiday Freeski Camps means that young skiers from the age of six years and up can now enjoy the coaching programme throughout the season.

Previously the Freeski Camps were only available during school holidays for 11 to 17 year olds but now a wider age group of youngsters will have the opportunity to safely explore Treble Cone’s diverse and exciting terrain. Under the guidance of expert coaches participants will have the opportunity to challenge themselves and advance in one of the fastest growing snow sports.

The age limit for participation was lowered to include skiers from six years of age following the success of the Mini Mountain competitions where the younger age groups were demonstrating talent and potential on a regular basis.

The two five-day holiday camps (starting 2 and 9 July) are led by eight-time New Zealand Freeski Open champion Geoff Small, working alongside a top team of coaches including Alex Lynden, Jamie Adcock and Campbell Smith who will continue coaching throughout the season. The extended programme focuses on coordination, conditioning and video sessions to improve technical and tactical skills, and will include coaching at selected freeski competitions and at the Junior Nationals.

“The combination of Treble Cone’s quality freeski terrain with the outstanding calibre of coaches provides the ideal learning environment for participants to become stronger big mountain skiers and demonstrate what it takes to win freeski and freestyle competitions,” said Klaus Mair, Treble Cone Snow Sports School director.

The Treble Cone Freeski Holiday Camps are available to children 6-17 years and cost $475 which includes 5 hours of tuition per day. The full season Freeski Programme will be held over nine weekends with a minimum of 4-5 hours on the snow per day and will also include the block course during the school holidays, costing $1750.

For budding young ski racers the TC Race E/K Programme is also on offer as a five day camp during the school holidays or full time. The programme is designed to get juniors excited about ski racing and to develop the physical and mental skills required to compete as a ski racer.

The TC Race E/K Seasonal Programme costs $1,750 and the five day camp $475. Both seasonal programmes include a season pass if booked before June 30.

Treble Cone will open on 28 June with a scheduled closing day of 30 September. For further information, visit www.treblecone.com.
