SKYCITY Statement 19 June 2012 5:21pm
SKYCITY regrets how this incident has played out and we have tried to move quickly today, to resolve this by requesting our meeting with Unite and Tuni Parata be brought forward from Thursday to today. Unfortunately Unite have advised that they are unwilling to meet this afternoon and a meeting is scheduled for 4pm tomorrow. We would like to reiterate that at no point was this situation deemed 'serious misconduct' which Unite's Mike Treen reported in his press statement, nor will it result in a dismissal.
As a major tourism operator, SKYCITY's success depends on the quality of the experience we provide to our guests and our policy is there to ensure that our employees play their part in creating an exceptional experience for these guests. While SKYCITY has a uniform policy we are confident there is enough flexibility in our uniform policy to resolve this situation.
