Espaliered Tree Pruning Demonstration
Learn from Council's expert gardeners
Where: Pollard Park Potager
When: Thursday 5 July at 10.30 am.
Espaliered fruit trees are a decorative and increasingly popular design element of a garden because they make it possible to grow fruit in a smaller garden. The method was often used in traditional walled kitchen gardens – by training the tree along a flat surface or along wire supports, the tree is easier to prune and the fruit easier to pick.
Espaliered trees can require patience to achieve good results but there’s an opportunity to learn the pruning techniques from the Council’s gardeners early next month.
Watch espaliered fruit tree pruning at the Pollard Park potager garden near the Parker Street front gates, Thursday 5 July at 10.30 am.
