Setting up house? Getting rid of an old bed or ‘fridge? Then Second Hand Sunday is the opportunity for you.

Adopting the principle that ‘one man’s trash is another’s treasure’ the council is promoting the district’s first Second Hand Sunday to take place on November 18.

Anyone with items to get rid of is invited to register their address at Tararua service centres, libraries or I-sites - similarly those wishing to see what is available can check out addresses from the same locations.

This initiative is a ‘first time’ for the council although it has become very successful in neighbouring Central Hawke’s Bay says Tararua waste minimisation officer Jeremy Hirst.

‘Don’t’s’ include firearms, food or hazardous substances, while ‘do’s’ include household items, furniture, books, toys, or clothing.

Second Hand Sunday will run from 10am –2pm, Sunday November 18 throughout the district – or wherever the addresses have been registered.
